Today was our last full day in Cambodia before we headed to the airport the following day to return home to Melbourne. We started the morning by visiting three different temples, which was an amazing experience. It was especially cool to see the places where Lara Croft: Tomb Raider was filmed and to experience the temples in person.

Afterwards, we had lunch together, which was really good, before heading to some local markets. We had the chance to walk around, see different things, and enjoy our last bit of time in Cambodia. We then went back and spent some time swimming in the pool, which was a relaxing way to enjoy our final afternoon.

For dinner, we went near the markets and ate in a beautiful, forest-like environment. The surroundings felt so peaceful and rich with nature, which made the dinner feel even more special. As the night ended, we rested early because we knew we had to wake up early the next morning to depart Cambodia and fly back to Melbourne.

Looking back on the whole trip, it feels crazy that it is already coming to an end. From teaching the students at Light of Hope, spending time with them, giving them gifts and sharing so many memories with them, to exploring Cambodia together, this trip has given me experiences and memories that I will never forget. Even as we were leaving, I felt grateful for the opportunity to be part of something so meaningful and to make a small positive impact during our time there.

We started our day very early at around 4:45 am. Even though it was still wet from the previous night’s rain, the temples were busy, and watching the sunrise was beautiful. The drive between the different temples was one of my favourite parts of the day because of the beautiful scenery, and the tuk-tuks were fun. After the temples, we went back to the hotel and had some free time. I slept.

We then had lunch, which was really yummy. The food here is really good, especially the lok lak. Then we spent some time at the markets. Bargaining was really funny, and so was getting chased by the store owners. After that, we had more free time, which we spent swimming and relaxing in our rooms. The dinner restaurant was pretty, and we then went back to the markets for a little longer afterwards.
